Flickr
I joined a new photo storage and sharing site a while back and forgot about it. Well, I was reading internet news today and came across a tutorial for using Flickr. I was surprised to see that I already had an account. So, I decided to test it out. In fact, I am posting this blog entry from within the Flickr website.
Further, I was able to download a photo uploading tool to use inside of iPhoto — iPhoto is the application I use on my Mac to store and organize all of my digital photos. The uploading tool makes it extremely easy to resize and upload any photos I want to share. Further, the tool allows me to add titles, comments, and even searching terms to each image or batch process all photos at once.
I have to say that I am quite impressed with the ease of sharing photos once you put in a small amount of legwork up front. Then again, I can already see one thing I’d fix . . . This blog entry does not have a section that allows me to choose the categories for which this blog entry applies, so I’ll have to visit my blog and add that. But, that’s minor compared to the ease of everything else. And, I should have a neat little photo of my children enjoying the ocean at Carolina Beach this summer.
Edit: My first attempt said it failed and I tried again. The second attempt worked. I then visited my blog and both attempts had worked. I deleted one and that solved that, but I guess that’s why Flickr is still in beta. heh heh.

Hey Mr. Lancaster I am so glad to see you have found something easy and enjoyable, when it comes to sharing your photos. I have never really gotten into sharing my pictures online because i don’t have a digital camera, but I would love to do it. PS… your family looks wonderful and very happy. Congratulations.

I love sharing photos online. I in the past have used yahoo photo and now I have a space on MSN because I use MSN instant messenger. Anybody who uses it can create their own space and for free. It is called ‘my space’ how appropriate don’t you think. Anyway once you decide you want your own space you can personalize however you choose. It has many features which allow you to create a profile about yourself or your family and you can share you favorite music and obviously pictures. There is also a blogging option and that is where I first heard of the term blogging. Although I have had an online diary for a couple years now…I used to write it in almost everyday but I have slacked off recently and I think I will try to do it more often now. This class has renewed my interest! Thanks for sharing Flickr with us I am definately going to check it out.

I have a digital camera and always wanted to share photos with my friends across the country but I’m not very good with the internet so I have not been able to find an easy way to achieve this and eventually gave up. This new site looks like it may be easier then the others i have tried like yahoo. The kids are really cute.
