Baby name trends are something we never tire of—they always say something about the current generation of parents and their aspirations to either be unique or fit in with the crowd. Babycenter‘s recent roundup on The 6 Biggest Baby Name Trends Of 2025 (So Far) breaks down a hand full of pop culture trends of the moment, plus lists the Top 10 names (for boys and girls) at the mid-2025 mark. See a recap, below!

5 Hot Baby Name Trends of 2025:

’90s Names.
Everything ’90s is hot right now—including baby names. Classic ’90s girl names that are currently on the rise include Sabrina, Britney, Shania, Kelsey, Briana, and Diana.

Oscar-Winning Names.
2025 Oscar-nominated films and talent caused the names Anora, Cynthia (Erivo), Adrien (Brody), and Kieran (Culkin) to start climbing the charts.

Aspirational Word Names.
A new group of names—seemingly plucked from the dictionary—give little ones something to live up to. Wisdom, Sincere, and Knowledge (for boys) and Praise, Divine, Adore, Queen, and Miracle (for girls) are all on the rise.

Loud Luxury Names.
Designer fashion houses and 1% lifestyle aspirations are driving monikers like Tiffany, Bentley, Manolo, Laurent, Luxury, Cash, Golden, Emerald, and Treasure to trend.

As for the Top 10 names for boys in 2025 and Top 10 names for girls in 2025, they tend to stick to the classics, with some new trendier names starting to creep in.

A new year is finally here—which means all of the “best of” lists for 2024 are in full swing. One that we’re most interested in comes from Nameberry, which calculated the most popular baby names of 2024 (based on how many “hearts” each name receives on the website). Whether parents actually named their children these monikers in 2024—or 2025—is another matter (be on the lookout for the Social Security Administration’s list in May 2025 for the official tally).

The following 200 names are those that new and expecting parents are placing on their “favorites” list—and we believe it serves as a sneak peek into the baby name trends 2025 will carry forth. This year’s Top 10 list had a number of traditional names—Charlotte and Amelia for girls, and Theodore, Oliver, Henry, and James for boys—that are also within the current Top Baby Names in the USA, showing that the overall “classic” name trend is still going strong.

Other “evergreen classics,” “biblical,” “traveling lite,” and “fresh nature names” noted within the Top 200 this year include Lucy, Luna, Nora, Willow, and Ivy for girls and William, Silas, Ezra, Kai, Leo, and Rowan for boys.

More obscure monikers beloved by the Nameberry audience include Daphne, Arden, Beatrix, Wren, Cordelia, Elowen, Imogen, Elodie, Aurelia, Clementine, Evangeline, Mabel, Jane, Sage, and Juniper for girls. For boys, trendier options include August, Soren, Casper, Florian, Kit, “-o” names like Milo and Arlo, and old-school “ancient” names like Evander, Cyrus, and Cassian.

Check all of the hottest baby names of 2024 (according to Nameberry), below!

It happens every year around Mother’s Day weekend: the Social Security Administration releases its top baby names list from the year prior. In what apparently takes 5+ months to tally, the latest SSA data shows the names parents in the U.S. chose to put on their babies’ birth certificates in 2023.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the Top 5 names for both boys and girls in 2023 remained the exact same as the 2022 lists. Liam, Noah, Oliver, James, and Elijah reign supreme for the boys; and Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Amelia, and Sophia for the girls.

Meanwhile, the Top 6 to Top 10 spots had some minor shake-ups. For boys, Mateo made a big jump up to the #6 spot (it was #11 last year), scooting down Henry, Lucas, and William, and bumping Benjamin out of the Top 10. For girls, Mia made a jump up to the #6 spot (from #8), with Isabella, Ava, Evelyn, and Luna below her.

Below, we’ve listed the Top 100 lists—a.k.a the most popular baby names of 2023—for both sexes. If you want to go further and see the Top 2,000 names for 2022—or any other year after 1879—head over here! Plus, you can type in any name and see its rise and fall in popularity over the years, decades, and century!

Another tool on the Social Security Administration’s site that we like is the Change in Name Popularity chart, which shows the names that moved up the most from last year to this year. Those ambitious climbers include Kaeli, Alitzel, Emryn, Adhara, Azari, Kya, Ivey, Ainara, Arely, and Scottie for girls; and Izael, Chozen, Eiden, Cassian, Kyren, Semaj, Kaizen, Kyaire, Jahmir, and Jasiah for boys.

The end of the year is here—which means all of the “best of” lists are rolling in at rapid speed. One that we’re most excited about comes from Nameberry, which calculated the most popular baby names of 2023 (based on how many clicks each name receives on the website). Whether parents actually named their children these monikers in 2023 is another matter (be on the lookout for the Social Security Administration’s list in May for the official tally).

Instead, the following 200 names are those that folks are looking up and inquiring about most—sometimes this is due to celebrity baby names and pop culture references, and other times it’s a sneak peek into the baby name trends 2024 will carry forth. This year’s Top 10 list had some surprising newcomers—including Luxury and Royal holding the #1 spots on the girls and boys lists, respectively. Other new additions to the Top 10 include Iris, Caspian, and Hugo.

It happens every year to kick-off Mother’s Day weekend: the Social Security Administration releases its top baby names list from the year prior. In what apparently takes 5+ months to tally, the latest SSA data shows the names parents in the U.S. chose to put on their babies’ birth certificates in 2022.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the Top 10 names for both boys and girls in 2022 remained virtually the same as the 2021 lists, with only one shake-up—Luna snuck its way into the girls list at the #10 spot, while the name Harper was booted out of the Top 10 (down to #11). Meanwhile, Liam remained the #1 pick for boys (for 6 years running) and Olivia the #1 choice for girls (for the 4th year in a row).

Other changes within the Top 10: Ava fell down a couple spots, and Sophie and Isabella moved up a pinch. On the boys side, James and Henry moved up a little bit. Meanwhile, Elijah and Benjamin fell down (but still remained in the Top 10).

You can check out the Top 100 girls names and Top 100 boys names of 2022 below! If you want to go further and see the Top 2,000 names for 2022—or any other year after 1879—head over here! Plus, you can type in any name and see its rise and fall in popularity over the years.

To note: names rising rapidly in popularity amongst girls outside the Top 100 for 2022 include Wrenlee, Neriah, Arlet, and Georgina. And for boys: Dutton, Khaza, Chosen, and Eithan.

Names that lost popularity for girls in 2022 include Tatiana, Alaiya, Jaylene, and Aarna. Names that lost popularity for boys included Jacoby, Turner, Aydin, Juelz, and Elon.
